I have been gone a few months, sorry folks. I got a bunch of new stuff I plan on posting before my eventual sudden hiatus so here we go!

I have known about Matt Elliott for a few years now but always kind of just ignored him as overall I am not really a folk fan, but my curiosity finally got the better of me last night. Oh how stupid I was before...

Musically this is kind of like if you took say the song Avalanche by Leonard Cohen, and his other dark toned songs, and added in a nice gypsy injection into the mix. In particular this shows through many of the melodies, but it is most apparent in these kind of psychedelic crescendos of gypsy music which each track seemingly builds into. I suppose if you are not a fan of say "crescendocore" post-rock then you may get sick of hearing them but I personally love crescendo type stuff, and this is to my ears certainly something different, especially in the context of this ultimately being a folk record.

I am told that his other albums can border on the whole "same songs, different album" kind of deal, but being the first album by him I have heard, I can neither confirm nor deny this. What Ican confirm, is that I very much enjoyed this album, and highly recommend it to anyone else.

An Autumn for Crippled Children Everything

Been a while since an update, and between the end of the semester and my vidya obsessions shit is tough to get around to. I am of course participating in Nothing but Black Metal November again this year, as I did last year, and this has been pushing me along nicely for the past few days. This is An Autumn for Crippled Children's second album, Everything, and this is a gorgeous album. Their previous album Lost, is also a fantastic album, but they have really outdone themselves here.

Musically it is of course black metal but there is a lot of beautiful melodies here, reminiscent of something you''d expect from Neige but there is a lot more to this than merely Neigecore. The music is very atmospheric and there is a lot of influences from all over you can hear within the music, including what is either some kind of strings or a synth... I can't quite tell.

Lets see if we can get back into the swing of this...

If you dislike hardcore then you may want to give this a listen. It may not change your opinion of it, but you may still very well enjoy it regardless.

This album is often combined with another Malignus Youth album called Ephemeral, this however does not contain Ephemeral. This is the Missa Brevis section of it, which is the band's own take on their own missa brevis, or "brief mass". Essentially we have here a very shortened requiem mass, with hardcore instrumentation.

The end result is some of the most progressive sounding hardcore you will ever hear. To call this post-hardcore however just doesn't feel right, despite it sounding far beyond any conventional concept of what is hardcore.

Enough praise though, you won't regret listening to this missa brevis. It is roughly 10 min long, consisting of 6 tracks.

A buddy of mine sent me a little present, and it turned out to be this album. This shit impressed me so god damn much I felt the need to come out of my hibernation.

If you liked that split with Realized, you'll fuckin love this. And if you didn't well give it a try anyway, cause this is that goddamn good. Musically this is pretty all over the place, which for hardcore and crust is a good thing if you ask me. Lots of diversity here and a slew of influences from all over.

Much as I often find music to post, I was shuffling through my albums and came across this. I've been a fan of GPKISM's EPs and mini-albums but never did get around to the actual album, which seems more of a combination of all his previous works. But if you aren't familiar with past works, this is as good a spot as any to give a listen.

As said, that is indeed a guy, and this is a visual kei darkwave duo. However the weird thing is... This band isn't Japanese... or well, it is and isn't. The main individual, GPK, is from Australia and the songs are all in English. However he has a strong accent, which sounds Japanese to me. The second person in this duo however is Japanese and is actually the guitarist from the visual kei band Blood, which if you are by chance looking for some decent visual kei bands in the massive sea of shit the genre has become, Blood is pretty decent.

Anyway, whether the band is Japanese or Australian, this is some pretty nice trancy darkwave which fans of Schwarz Stein and Kaya's early works should love.

This is my newest little sideproject, dubbed Voidscape unless I ever find a better name. A few days ago I was bored and just said to myself "... lets try to make some ambient...". The end result sounding like a cross between Nurse With Wound's Homotopy to Marie and some form of contemporary classical such as Ligeti or Pendrecki. After the first track, I made another, and decided I'd make a total of four for an EP or mini album following a concept I had in my head akin to the idea of the fall of Lucifer, and so we have In Extremis.

I had a lot of fun making these four tracks and hopefully some of you enjoy them but it is by no means easy listening so I won't feel bad if you dislike this.

This is LIL, a Japanese electro duo. Nothing really fancy to say about this, merely that it is catchy and if you like electro, I see no reason you wouldn't like this. Despite being Japanese the album itself is largely in very understandable English and overall just doesn't have a Japanese sound to it.

This also includes their Tower Records live mix they did from their album release which is also arguably the best thing here, so be sure to give it a listen also, it is very nice.

This was my first Juno Reactor album and it is absolutely amazing. For those unfamiliar with Juno Reactor, I guarantee you have heard them before. Ever seen the Matrix trilogy? How about the Mortal Kombat movie? You have heard Juno Reactor. Now while this album isn't quite as intense as say Control, Navras or Mona Lisa Overdrive from those films, this is still a great fucking album.

Musically this is more or less goa/psytrance. They are basically the exact same genre. However, unlike the Man With No Name I posted ages ago, this is pretty light in overall sound. There is a lot of world influence here and the songs are very diverse.



Anyway enough praise, if you don't like this album I have nothing to say to you.

This whole "wait until an hour before midnight before posting" thing seems to be working...

Anyway, I love yé-yé! What is yé-yé? In simple terms, it is 60s French pop with female vocals. This is Zouzou, originally a French model who also did some singing.

This is a fantastic album and should really appeal to quite a large amount of you all. If you enjoy 60s pop, or even 60s rock, as quite a few tracks have an almost Rolling Stones vibe to them, then you should love this. Hell, I certainly love this. In fact, I'd say this my favorite yé-yé album.

Lovely little group that plays some really nice dark style jazz, almost film noir type stuff with some electronic influence. They have a few other albums but the only other one I've given a serious listen to is their self-titled, which I'll probably upload later eventually.

Really though, for anyone of you that know me, you know I generally hate ska and reggae. Dub is an exception though. So for those that don't know, what exactly "dub" is... Take reggae, then strip out everything, leaving only the beat. That is dub.

Also I'm sure many of you are aware of "dubstep" at the moment. Dub is of course the root word however much like other genres, it was essentially hijacked by that wub wub wobble wobble crap. I may post a legit dubstep album later, still thinking.

I thought for sure I had uploaded this before...


Miranda Sex Garden - Fairytales of Slavery

But apparently I didn't... Anyway this is Miranda Sex Garden, an old gothic rock band to put things simply. This is the only album I have by them but it is quite good. Interestingly enough apparently their 1st album was entirely a cappella also. Needles to say, this is a drastic change from a cappella.

So ultimately what we have here is a gothic rock albun, but there is some really interesting parts to this bands sound. First, is the perfect combination of an intense, and aggressive atmosphere, with the tribalesque drum beats, combined with the extremely ethereal feel of the vocals, the almost shoegazy guitar and the accompanying strings. Course at the same time, no song really sounds the same, and indeed one track is in fact a cappella. Nonethless...

If you liked Cranes, and you better have, you should love this.


God I love that song.

This is my new little hip-hop obsession at the moment. This was the RZA's sideproject shortly after Enter the 36 Chambers came out back in 94'. Also if you are at all familiar with that album, you will most likely love this one as well. Replace the Wu-Tang kung-fu lyricism with cheesy gore and black humor and you have this album.

I can't really recommend this any higher. It is easily one of the best hip-hop albums ever and I am really disappointed in myself for neglecting it for so long.
