New Wormrot. If you haven't noticed, their previous album Abuse kind of took the grindcore world by surprise. Much like Abuse was, Dirge is fuckin fantastic. This is 25 tracks of grind insanity, and it's all over in 18 minutes. That's when you know something is right.
Bit of a different post this time though. Earache recently put up Dirge for free on their website. What does that mean? You should probably go download it from them, not from me.
When I first listened to this album I was under the impression it was black metal. Really fucking raw black metal. The first track would play and then I'd switch to some other album since I am rarely in the mood for raw black metal. I was very wrong about this album though. It is so much more than black metal.
In reality, the only black metal track here is the first track. Everything else sounds like 60s psychedelic rock, pop, folk etc. It just sounds 60s to me, and that is a good thing. So while yes, the opening track is blistering raw black metal, once you get by that initial song, this album has so much more to offer.
I was also curious about just what the black metal track was about, and it turns out its named for a knight who served with Joan of Arc and had a small habit of kidnapping and and brutally killing children. Good times. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilles_de_Rais
New album from Asobi Seksu. Apparently this came out last month but I just now heard about and gave it a listen. It isn't as good as Citrus, but then again VERY few albums are. What this is however is a great album, and definitely an improvement over their previous album, Hush.
Give it a whirl, you'll enjoy it.

The previous post was kind of cheating so here is another...
Jedi Mind Tricks - Legacy of Blood
This was the first real hip-hop album I ever listened to. Prior to this album I heard the words "rap" or "hip-hop" and instantly dismissed it all as garbage. This album changed that. Because of this album I looked into more hip-hop and became exposed to some really great artists.
Musically this album is fucking aggressive and pretty offensive. Right off the bat Vinnie Paz goes right at homosexuals, mainstream rap, and Christianity spewing venom like an endless stream as he spits out each word like a bullet. At the time I was still really into death metal so this shit was fuckin wild to me and straight up my alley. The real key to JMT though, is Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind on the beats. No one can compare to Stoupe in my opinion when it comes to beats. No one. RZA comes close though I'd say.
So even if you may not be a fan of what Vinnie is rapping, Stoupe's beats more than make up for it. Even so, if you aren't easily offended I recommend giving this shit a listen. It opened up a whole new genre for me. Maybe it will for you too.
We Enter the Circle at Night... and Are Consumed by Fire
Dead to a Dying World - Dead to a Dying World
This post comes courtesy of Ryan over at No Gods, No Masters who first showed me this band. I recommend pillaging his shit also even if he does post a lot of bad folk punk.
Now lets go over some of my favorite things in here...
Did you know Bjork used to be in a goth rock/post-punk band?
Kukl - The Eye
I certainly never did. But now I do, since this is it.
This is Kukl, an old Icelandic goth/post-punk band Bjork used to be in back in the 80s. The album was even released through Crass Records back in 84'. This is a great album that I first listened to last night and it is just great.
Kukl itself is apparently ancient Icelandic for "witch" and Bjork's voice here works well as if a cackling witch or wailing banshee.
I assume most of you have heard this already so I'm mainly putting this up for a friend.
In short, Boris released a new album. Sounds kind of like a J-Pop, J-Rock, and electronic mish mash. Really catchy. Some fans hated it, I think it is great. Decide for yourself.

This goes right back to the days of The Work Which Transforms God/Thematic Emanation Of Archetypal Multiplicity and as a result, back to the earlier Liber release type stuff. In short, this is my favorite type of Blut Aus Nord.
This is a great, and to my knowledge, relatively unknown band from Japan. Tough to put this into a genre but shoegaze best describes their overall sound. There is a lot more to this than just shoegaze though, believe me. There is some nice experimental and electronic stuff laced within this stuff.
Overall, very soothing ethereal beautiful music here, with a few harder hitting tracks to nicely round it all off.
Tracklisting: 1. one day 2. love less 3. Aerial 4. sex slave 5. draw 6. silent ballet 7. Jane Doe 8. grief coast 9. corona 10. neo
So it's no secret I've been gone for a few months so here is my most current addiction.
Earlier this month I listened to Allkore Riot Kontrol 03 and during DJ Amaya's set I was introduced to the song Beautiful Mistakes by MAA. Long story short, I got a hold of her album and I fucking love it. I've listened to this a shit ton of times. It's catchy, varied and just fucking great.
EDIT: Oh yea, the video for Ballerina Brain System is adorable also.
Give this shit a listen if you like J-pop, electro, or house.
This blog overall doesn't have a specific theme really, unless "music I like" is a valid theme. So expect to find anything and everything that happens to tickle my fancy here. If you happen to want something taken down, let me know in a comment on the offending post and it will be done. Also if you happen to have some requests or something I'll see what I can do about that as well. Enjoy the blog. Comments are always encouraged.
